Just over a week into the new year and we are happy to report that Paul Henderson Racing is already off the mark for 2017, after Amron Kali stormed home under a great ride from Nick Scholfield at Fontwell on Sunday. It was the mare's first start for the yard after coming over from Ireland a month ago. Paul and the team wasted no time getting to grips with the 7-year-old, who had never won a race in 15 previous starts, before moving to Paul Henderson Racing. In an exciting race, Amron was held up at the rear and kept out wide by Nick Scholfield, to get the better ground. Amron tracked the leaders throughout the second circuit though, and Nick, who always seems to read the race perfectly, held his nerve and timed his push brilliantly coming into the last to come through and take the win by 1 and a quarter lengths to the well fancied Ding Dong and favourite Straits of Messina.
Paul and the team have been working hard to get the yard's horses into good shape, so let's hope it's the first of many, as there is lots of racing still to come over the next few days. Things kick off tomorrow with Sizing Sahara who goes to Leicester in the 2:40 pm. Sizing was unseated last time out when he ran at Fontwell in December, so we are all hoping for a big improvement on that result. There are shares available in a couple of horses who are ready to run, including Amron Kali, so get in contact if you're interested in the prospect of getting involved with an in-form yard in 2017.
